CCCS
appreciates that your home is probably, or will be, your single most
important investment. If you are currently a homeowner falling behind
with your mortgage payments, we can help you to understand your rights,
and we will act as an advocate to help you negotiate repayment plans
with your lenders. If you need assistance, don't delay.
If
you are considering purchasing a home, we provide information regarding
safe and adequate housing, housing choices, needed resources, and the
cost implications of different types of decisions that you face. We
are founding members of hoMEworks, a multidisciplinary initiative to
promote comprehensive home ownership education throughout Maine.
The Department
of Housing and Urban Development, HUD, strives to provide a
decent,
safe, and sanitary home and suitable environment for every American
by fighting for fair housing, increasing affordable housing and home
ownership, reducing homelessness, promoting jobs and economic development,
empowering people and communities, and restoring the public trust.
Programs for Homeowners
- Post
purchase programs are offered individually, or with community
outreach agencies. We explore the common home ownership pitfalls and
money management changes that occur, and help map out a plan to combat
those challenges.
- Reverse
Mortgage Counseling for elderly homeowners who want to
tap into their home's equity. We provide professional counseling services
for HECM, the HUD Home Equity Conversion Mortgage. As an impartial
party, we are able to show the pro's and con's of the program objectively,
to enable seniors to make informed choices.
- Delinquency
Counseling for homeowners or renters who find that they
are falling behind with their mortgage or rent payments. CCCS offers
strategies to get them back on track. We negotiate repayment plans
with lenders and landlords, based on the individual's capacity, and
inform clients of all of the programs, assistance, and options available
to them.
